Ramona "Momo" Lillian Cabrera Webber, 72, of 127 Pimlico Road, died Sunday, April 25, 1999, following an extended illness.

Born in Boston on July 4, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Ildefonzo and Lillian Irene Keating Cabrera. She was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church.

Ramona graduated from Portsmouth (N.H.) High School in 1944. She attended the University of New Hampshire and was president of the Newman Club. She graduated in 1948 with a degree in education. Ramona married Merle Thomas Webber on Aug. 24, 1949. The couple lived in the Schenectady, N.Y., area and reared four children.

In 1968, Ramona and Merle moved to Greenville. Momo taught school at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic School. She and Merle lived in San Antonio in the 1980s, where Ramona was active in St. Mark's Catholic Church. She supervised the church RCIA and "Renew" programs and was director of religious education from 1989 to 1992.

Momo and Merle moved back to Greenville in 1992. They taught literacy through the Greenville Literacy Program and assisted in the Meals on Wheels program.

Momo was a woman of great faith. She loved her husband, children, grandchildren and many friends. Her caring and positive spirit lives on in each of us.

She is survived by her husband, Merle T. Webber; daughters and sons-in-law, Paula W. and Gary Burgess of Mauldin and Nonda W. and Thomas Strasburger of Dallas; sons and daughters-in-law, M. Thomas Jr. and Sharon Webber of Greenville and Mark P. and Laura Webber of Marietta, Ga.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lucia C. and James Mahoney of Springfield, Mass., and Juana C. and Patrick Fox of Folsom, Calif.; brother and sister-in-law, Al and Mary Cabrera of Portsmouth; and grandchildren, Heather, Joseph, Jennifer, Joshua and Megan Burgess; Abigail, Abraham, Samantha, Gabriel, Madeline, Nathaniel, Danielle, Ryan, Michael and Sarah Webber; and Dylan Strasburger. She was predeceased by her brother, Joseph.

Recitation of the Rosary will be at 7 p.m. today at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown, followed by visitation until 8:30 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church. Burial will be in Graceland East Memorial Park.
