Robert Eliot Ross

Robert "Bobby" "Bob" Eliot Ross passed away on May 16, 2011 at 76. He passed unexpectedly from complications with his heart.

Robert resided with his beloved wife Ana (Hulswit) Ross in Bethel Conn., for the entire 48 years of their marriage. He was born in Bellows Falls Vt., on January 10, 1935, the son of the late James Ross and Edna Sawin.

He was predeceased by his brother James Ross, Jr. He graduated from Bellows Falls High School in 1953, where he served as the class president.

He served in the U.S. Air Force as a jet aircraft mechanic. After being honorably discharged from his military service, he attended General Motors Institute in Flint, MI and received his certification as a transmission specialist.

He was a hardworking, selfless man that made many sacrifices for the benefit of his family. Upon moving to Conn., he was employed by Norma-Hoffmann Bearing Corp of Stamford for 10 years. In 1973, he joined the Burndy Corporation in Bethel, Conn. and remained employed there for 27 years until retiring in 2000. In his retirement, he pursued his passion of Corvettes. He proudly purchased his first Corvette in 2007 and served as an active member of the Candlewood Valley Corvette Club. Although he was not a man of many words, he leaves behind a lifetime of fond memories and life lessons that include strong, positive ethical and family values.

He is survived by his children and their spouses: Jack and Tonnette Cartin of Virginia Beach, Jeffrey and Wendy Cartin of New Milford, Heather and Billie Hill of Bethel, Robert and Alice Ross of Thomaston, Jillian and Kenneth Krueger of Brookfield, and Rebekah and Craig White of Southbury. He is further survived by his 14 grandchildren and 4 greatgrandchildren.
