Richard E. Forget, Sr.
DOUGLAS -- Richard E. Forget Sr., 81, of 8 Roslyn Rd., died Fri., May 9 after an illness. His wife of 48 years, Marie M. (Baia) Forget died Nov. 18, 1997.
He is survived by a son, Richard E. Forget Jr. of Douglas; 2 daughters: Donna M. Muldoon of Douglas, with whom he resided the past 3 years, and Cheryl I. Becker of Douglas; 12 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Forget of Dorchester; and many nephews and nieces.
He was predeceased by a son, Raymond E. Forget in 2004 and a daughter, Susan L. Gregory in 2005. He was brother of the late Lorraine Lockney and Jeanne Phillips.
Born in Worcester on April 5, 1927, he was the son of Hervey and Alma (Cheverfils) Forget and lived in Douglas 28 years. Previously he lived in Brighton.
Mr. Forget was a Mail Handler for the Boston and Worcester Post Offices for 28 years. He retired in 1996. He was a U.S. Coast Guard WWII Veteran, serving in the S. Pacific Theater. A miniature model train enthusiast, he enjoyed bird watching and loved visiting Nantucket, where he honeymooned with Marie.
Family mattered most to Richard. He completely enjoyed his children and grandchildren and chased around several generations of children. He considered himself a wealthy man in this respect.
His memorial funeral service will be held Sun., May 11 at 6 p.m. in Jackman Funeral Home, 7 Mechanic St. Douglas. There will be no burial. Calling hours, at the funeral home, are Sun., May 11 from 4 to 7 p.m. Donations may be made to the Leukemia Research Foundation, 3520 Lake Avenue, Suite #202 Wilmette, IL 60091-1064.
