WATERTOWN - A funeral Mass for Dorothy Alice (Monahan) Baia, 71, was celebrated on Wednesday, December 9, 2009, in the Church of Saint Patrick, Watertown.
Mrs. Baia, a daughter of the late James E. and Mary H. (Brady) Monahan, was born in Boston. She was a lifelong Watertown resident and a graduate of Saint Patrick High School, Class of 1956. Mrs. Baia, a homemaker, died on Sunday morning, December 6, 2009, at her Watertown residence.
She was the beloved wife for 50 years of Louis V. Baia; devoted mother of Christine M. Toomey of St. Petersburg, Fla., Ronald J. Baia of Ashland, Kan., Robert L. Baia of Newton, Stephen M. Baia of Cheshire, Conn., and James J. Baia of Fitchburg; dear sister of Mary E. Hanley of Watertown, Ruth T. Crenshaw of Framingham, James E. Monahan of New Hartford, N.Y., and the late Ethel M. Proia. She was also loved by 18 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral was from the Macdonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home at 270 Main St., on Rte. 20, Watertown, on Wednesday at 8 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 in the Church of Saint Patrick, 212 Main St., Watertown. Interment was in Ridgelawn Cemetery, Watertown.
Calling hours were on Tuesday, December 8 from 6-8 p.m. in the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home on Main Street. Relatives and friends were kindly invited to attend.
