Mrs. Christina Alberta (Nichols) Fessenden, 78, of 348 Hancock St., Springfield, died Saturday in a local nursing home.
She was born in Amherst Nov. 29, 1893. A Springfield resident for 46 years, she was a member of the Asbury Methodist Church and the Ladies Society of that church. A graduate of Lucy Webb Hayes Hospital School of Nursing, Washington, D.C., she was a registered nurse in both Washington and Massachusetts.
A member of Adelphi Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, she leaves her husband, Willard D. Fessenden; two daughters, Mrs. Eunice Poole of Springfield and Mrs. Elsie Stephen of Paramus, N.J.; a brother, Schuyler Nichols of Ludlow; and two sisters, Mrs. Robert Wolcott of Northampton and Mrs. Harold Denison of East Longmeadow.
The funeral will be Tuesday at Dickinson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Hillcrest Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the memorial fund of Asbury Methodist Church, Springfield.
