BANGOR -- Marguerete "Rete" Adella (Hamlin) Skoog, 89, died June 14, 2010, at a Bangor hospital after a lengthy illness.

She was born June 30, 1920, in Orneville, the daughter of John and Leila (Blythen) Hamlin. Rete graduated from Milo High School, Class of 1938, and married her high school sweetheart, Nels Eric Skoog, May 24, 1941. They resided in Bangor and Brewer for many happy decades. Widowed in 2003, Rete lived out her remaining years at Sunbury Village, Dirigo Pines and finally Ross Manor.

Rete, an energetic little woman, was a talented and creative seamstress who greatly enjoyed shopping. A longtime member of United Methodist Church, Rete taught church school, served as treasurer and was a member of many church organizations.

Surviving are her daughter, Sigrid and her husband, David Marden, of Bangor; her son, Eric Skoog and his wife, Nancy, of Chelmsford, Mass.; six grandchildren, Daniel Marden of Lewiston, Leila Herbest of Belfast, Eric Marden of Brewer, Sven Skoog of Chelmsford, Mass., Torr Skoog of Medford, Mass., and Ingrid Skoog of North Chelmsford, Mass.; four great-grandchildren, Zariah Marden, Elizabeth Herbest, Arianna Herbest and Ulrika Skoog; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Melville Hamlin.

Private graveside services will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, Milo.
