James F. Waldron

James F. Waldron, 86, an 18-year resident of Manson, died Monday, March 24, 1997, at CHIPSA Hospital in Mexico.

He was born Aug. 23, 1910, on the family homestead in northern Alberta, Canada, the son of James R. and Margaret (Wertman) Waldron. His family moved to Bainbridge Island in 1927. Jim was graduated from high school in 1928. He then attended Washington State College where he was graduated with a degree in business administration in 1934. Several of his college summers were spent working at the Valley Evaporated Fruit Co. in Manson.

On July 24, 1936, he was married to Betty Noble at Bakersfield, Calif.

During World War II, Jim was manager for the Northwest division of Remington Rand. In 1948, he established the Home Improvement Co. at Longview. In 1959, he moved to Spokane where he was sales manager for Rainier Brewery and later became established as a real estate broker.

In 1979, he retired to the Kludt-Waldron Orchard in Manson. Winters were spent traveling, or in the Waldrons' home at Borrego Springs, Calif.

Jim was a member of several organizations, including Lions Club, the Elks Lodge and Manson Kiwanis.

He lived life as a challenge and an adventure. His motto was, "Never give up," which he never did. He shared the adventures of his life through the many great stories which he loved to tell.

He was a wonderful husband and father and all will miss him very, very much.

Survivors include his wife, Betty, of the home; four daughters, Helen Johnson of Medical Lake, Marilyn Jones of Redondo, Bobbi Kludt of Manson and Lorinda Richer of Cheney; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
