Fletcher W. Lindsay

PORTLAND -
Fletcher W. Lindsay, 85, of Crestview Drive, passed away Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, at Mercy Hospital. He was born in Kingman, the son of Byron and Etta White Lindsay.

He was raised and educated in Kingman. Fletcher was a graduate of Lee Academy and the University of Maine, Orono, with a degree in mechanical engineering. While at the university, he was a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity. He served in the U. S. Air Force as a staff sergeant and was honorably discharged. He married Florence W. Sewell in 1953 and moved to Millinocket. They later moved to Portland in 1973. He had been employed by Great Northern Paper Co. for 20 years and later S.D. Warren Co. for 20 years, retiring in 1992. He enjoyed boating, golf, hunting and fishing.

His wife, Florence S. Lindsay, passed away August 2012. He was also predeceased by two sisters. He is survived by two sons, Fletcher II and Brian and his companion, Marilyn, all of Portland; daughter, Sandra and husband, Mark Weimer, of Windham; and grandchildren, Julia of Newton, Mass., and Nicole and Kayla of Portland.

Visiting hours will be held 1 p.m. until the start of the funeral services 3 p.m. Monday at Blais & Hay Funeral Home, 35 Church St., Westbrook. Spring interment will be at West Broadway Cemetery, Lincoln.
