Chauncey A. Lindsey

Chauncey A. Lindsey, 46, a World War I veteran, passed away at a local hospital Saturday night after a two weeks illness of pneumonia. Mr. and Mrs. Lindsey had operated the Senate Hotel Coffee shop for the past few years. They resided at 24 East Clark Street.

Funeral services will be held at 3 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Walker mortuary West Main Street. Rev. J. M. Anderson, pastor of the Church of Nazarene, will conduct the services and interment will be made in Woodlawn Cemetery at Clinton, Ill. where member of the Clinton Post of American Legion will have charge.

Mr. Lindsey was born at Thawville, Ill. Nov. 21, 1894, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alva Lindsey. He was educated in Clinton, Ill. and as a young man entered the employ of the Illinois Central railroad company as a fireman. Later he was advanced to the post of engineer on the Wisconsin division. He was united in marriage July 9, 1918 at Atlanta, Ga. to Miss Maude Snodgrass, of Clinton, Ill. His wife survives, as do his mother, Mrs. Maggie Lindsey, and the following sisters and brother: Mrs. Albert Klenke, Mrs. Henry Kinert, Charles W. Lindsey, all of Freeport. His father, one sister and two brothers preceded him in death.

During the World War, he served with Company 41, 4th replacemnt regiment and later was transferred to the 36 Engineers. He has resided in Freeport since 1920.

• His funeral was held at Walker mortuary (West Main Street) with Rev. J.M. Anderson, pastor of the Church of Nazarene, officiating 28 January 1941 in Freeport, Stephenson County, Illinois.



• He was buried at Woodlawn Cemetery in Clinton, De Witt County, Illinois.
