Known as a criminal lawyer of no mean ability and possessing an enviable reputation as a trial lawyer, Mr. Beach had a long and varied practice in Iroquois County as a member of the local bar association, also practicing in Champaign and Cook counties. The only elective office he had ever held was city attorney in Gilman but he had been the choice of the Democratic party at various times, running for state's attorney and county judge during elections when the Republicans were strongest.

His first law practice following his graduation was in Paxton, but in 1919 he opened an office in Gilman and he resided there ever since.
