Alton Coffin, 79, died May 11, 2003 at a Lincoln hospital. He was born in Lincoln, May 26, 1923, the son of Elmer and Hazel (Thibodeau) Coffin.

Alton was a lifetime member of the V.F.W., the D A V and the Masons. He served in the Phillipines during World War II. He was a mechanic and he was the owner of Coffin's Used Cars. He enjoyed antique autos and restored many of them. He won many trophies at antique auto shows. He was given his high school diploma from Lee Academy on June 2, 2001.

He is survived by five children, Brenda Cramer and her husband, Eugene, of Lee, Yolanda Jordan and her husband, David, of Norway, Frederick "Ricky" Coffin and his wife, Rose Ann of Lee, Robin Ward and her husband, Matt, of Lee and Joanne Herrick of Kingman; grandchildren, Michael Cramer, Candy Foster, Wayne Foster, Jeremiah Coffin, Derrick Coffin, Raven Flynn, Jayde Felmey, Cody Felmey, Holly Coffin and Virginia Coffin; great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Jesse Shaw, Kirstin Fitzpatrick, Sam Eager, Sunshine Coffin, Joshua Coffin and Lucien Tibbetts; sisters, Virginia Walker and her husband, William, of Brewer, and Leona Crocker and her husband, Jerre, of Lee. He also leaves behind a caring friend, Dawn Coffin. He was predeceased by his second wife, Mary Lindsay, his third wife, Joanne Worster, a son Allen "Co Co" Coffin and sister, Joyce Coffin Lindsay.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, May 15, 2003, at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Lee, with the Rev. Ronald Libby officiating. At Alton's request, please do not send flowers. Arrangements with Clay Funeral, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln.
