The funeral of the late Everett Lindsay was held from his -home at North Monmouth, Wednesday afternoon. Quite a large number of sorrowing friends were in attendance, among them Mrs. Julia A. Sumner of Auburn, a sister of Mr. Lindsay and Mrs. E. W. Russell, a niece, Robert Lindsay, brother of the deceased, Roland Lindsay, Lawrence, Mass., and Miss Clara J. Lindsay, daughter, of Boston, and Lewis Lindsay, brother of Leeds. The youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Lindsay, Geo. A. was not present, being in New York. The day was very unfavorable on account of very heavy rain, yet a goodly number of neighbors were present to sympathize with the large circle of mourning relatives.

Rev. Mr. Nicholas, pastor of Monmouth Methodist church was officiating clergyman. Mr. Nichols' remarks were brief but very able and comforting. Excellent singing was provided by Miss Margie Mellroy, soprano, and Miss Inex Holmes, contraito. Three sons, Howard E., Roland and Roscoe and two sons-in-laws, E.E. Walker and Charles Sanborn bore the remains to Monmouth tomb. J.L. Orcott was director. Beautiful flowers were contributed by friends in Lawrence, Mass., Boston and Auburn.

Mr. Lindsay was a veteran of the War of 1861. He enlisted in Maine Infantry, served his time, came home and then enlisted in the Navy. He drew a pension of $24 a month for heart trouble, the disease from which he died Sunday evening, Jan. 18. A widow and large family of children survive him.
