Howard E. Lindsay


Howard E. Lindsay of North Monmouth died Saturday afternoon at the home of Charles Libby at Wayne where he had been staying for several weeks. He was born in Leeds March 2 1858, the son of Roscoe and Eliza (Berry) Lindsay.

He was retired a year and a half ago at the age of 81 after serving as post master in North Monmouth for 30 years. With the exception of 20 years when he was with the United Shoe Company in Beverly, Mass. He has always lived in North Monmouth. For several years he was superintendent of the Emery Waterhouse Co. and later managed a grocery business of his own.

In 1880 he married Alice Crockett. She died in 1925. Survivors are three brothers, Roscoe L. Lindsay, George Albert Lindsay, both of North Monmouth, Rowland Lindsay of Beverly, Mass., three sisters, Miss Clara Jane Lindsay, Mrs. Mary Sanborn, Beverly, Mass., and Mrs. Josephine Walker of Foxboro, Mass. And several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at the home of his brother, George Lindsay, Monday afternoon at [--?--] o'clock.
