NORTH MONMOUTH --
A. Vernon Hodsdon, 78, formerly of Auburn, died Thursday morning at his home here.

Born in Leeds, April 5, 1891, he was the son of Albion H. and Hattie Brewster Hodsdon. He was educated in Leeds and married Mabel Prescott, Oct. 2, 1915 in Portland. For a number of years, he was employed as a shipper for Jordan Marsh Co., Boston. He retired in 1958. While living in Auburn, he was employed many years by Lewiston Gas Light Co. He had resided in North Monmouth for the past 3 months, having lived in West Somerville, Mass. prior to that time. Mr. Hodsdon was a past member of Ashlar Lodge of Masons, AF and AM Lewiston; past high priest of King Hiram Royal Arch Chapter, Lewiston; past illustrious master of [illegible] Masters; and a 32nd degree Mason in the Scottish Rites.

Surviving besides his widow of North Monmouth are two daughters, Mrs. Barbara M. Morrison, West Somerville, Mass., and Mrs. Charlotte L. Hardacker, North Monmouth; a son, Roy Vernon Hodsdon, Reading, Mass.; a brother, Walter O. Hodsdon, Rochester, N.Y.; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

DIED -- At North Monmouth, August 14, 1969, A. Vernon Hodsdon, age 78, husband of the former Mabel Prescott, formerly of Auburn. Funeral services from the memorial chapel of Dillingham & Son, Sunday August 17 at [illegible] p.m. Interment at the Mount Auburn Cemetery in Auburn. Friends may call at the chapel Saturday 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Masonic services will be held at the chapel Saturday at [illegible] p.m. under the direction of the Ashlar Lodge of Masons AF & AM of Lewiston.
