Albert L. Fickett

AUBURN --
Albert L. Fickett, 82, of 21 Smith St., died early Sunday night at the Clover Hospice after a brief illness.

He was born in Auburn, Sept. 14, 1910, the son of Ernest and Mabel Robinson Fickett. Educated in Auburn schools, he was a 1929 graduate of Edward Little High School.

In his early years, Mr. Fickett was employed at the South Portland Shipyard and also at Bath Iron Works. He later had been employed at the former Clark Shoe in Auburn as a leather cutter, and had also worked part time for many years at Falcon Shoe in Lewiston.

Mr. Fickett was married June 24, 1939, to the former Julia M. Jennings. Mr. Fickett was a 48 year member of Ashlar Lodge 105, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of Auburn. He was a member and past high priest of Bradford Chapter 9 Royal Arch Masons of Auburn; a member and past illustrious master of Dunlap Council and 8 Royal and Select Masters of Auburn; a member and past commander of Lewiston Commandery and 6 Knights Templar of Auburn; a member of Eusebius Conclave 3 Grand Imperial Council of Maine; the Maine Council Order of High Priesthood; the Maine Council Order of Thrice Illustrious Masters; and he was a member of the United Methodist Church of Minot. Mr. Fickett enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and camping.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Julia M. Fickett of Auburn; one daughter, Mrs. John (Roberta) Fickett Proctor of Waterville; two sisters, Carrie Joy of Auburn, and Emma Thurston of St. Francisville, La.; three grandchildren, Mike Pineau, Jacqueline Elliott and Annette Cormier; and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Etta Sampson, and a brother, Lee Fickett.
