Charles Skillings

STRONG -- Charles W. Skillings, 81, died unexpectedly late Thursday at his home on the Strong Road.

He was born Sept. 1, 1881, in Strong, son of James T. and Martha Norton Skillings. He was educated in the Strong elementary schools and attended Bryant Stratton Business College, Boston. Mr. Skillings spent his entire life in Strong and was a well known farmer and lumberman. He was a prominent man in the cattle industry. He raised registered Guernsey cattle which were shown for many years at the Franklin County fair. He married Mary Pierce, March 17, 1930 at Livermore Falls.

Surviving are his widow and three sons, James, Wilton; John, stationed with the U.S. Coast Guard at New Orleans, La.; and George, Strong; a daughter, Mrs. Margaret Meservey, Fairfield, Calif.; and seven grandchildren.
