THELMA G. SAWYER
HOWLAND -- Thelma G. Sawyer, 84, died April 6, 1998 at a Howland nursing home. She was born in Maxfield Nov. 13, 1913, the daughter of Edwin E. and Mary Jane (Cary) Robinson. Thelma was a graduate of Howland High School and she was also a member of the Auxiliary of Leveille-Shorey VFW Post 9429, West Enfield. She was an avid Beano player and loved to go fishing.
She is survived by two sons, Ronald Merrill and his wife, Florence, of Howland, Dalton Merrill of Springfield, Oregon; a daughter, Joan Smith, and her husband, Royce, of Howland; seven grandchildren, Eddie Merrill, Danita Littlefield and Danny, Suella Merrill, Avena Merrill, William Tash III and Ruby, Lisa Haskell and Brent, Debbie Merrill and Daine; eight great grandchildren, Jessica, Jeremy, Sammy and Christy Deeds, Fawn and Paul Heath, Chyrstal and Little Billy; a great-great grandchild, Nikki; a brother, Weston Robinson and his wife Margaret of Leavenworth, Wash.; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Clay Funeral Home in Lincoln. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Clayton Crocker officiating. Interment will be in Howland Cemetery later in the spring.
