CHICOPEE -
Edward N. Lindsey, 87, of 50 Irwin St. and a decorated veteran of World War II, died Friday at the Holyoke Soldiers' Home, Holyoke.

He was a 30-year machine operator at the Continental Baking Co., retiring in 1980. Born in Philadelphia, Pa., he was educated in Boston schools. He moved to Holyoke in 1945 and later to this city in 1961.

He was a World War II Army veteran having served with the Rainbow Division in Europe and Africa. He was awarded the Bronze Star.

He leaves his wife, the former Rose Bader Miller; a son, Edward Jr., and a daughter, Joan Smith, both of Boston; four stepsons, Douglas Miller and Gary Miller of Chicopee, Alan Miller of San Diego, Calif., and Glen Miller of Clearwater, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Maureen Guffanti of Springfield; a brother, Albert of Texas; three sisters, Ida Bradley of Natick and Orabelle Zakowsky and Doris Raftes, both of Braintree; and nine grandchildren.

The funeral and burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours and Dillon Funeral Home, Holyoke, is in charge. Friends and relatives may visit with the family at their home at 50 Irwin St., Sunday, Monday and Tuesday afternoons.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Holyoke Soldiers' Home, 110 Cherry St., Holyoke, MA 01040.
