Mary C. (Osgood) Freese Strom, 86, of Granby, widow of Linde F. Strom, died Monday (April 21, 1997) at MeadowBrook of Granby.

Born in Melrose, MA, daughter of the late Dr. William and Eva (Guild) Osgood, she had lived in Granby for over 50 years.

She was employed for many years as a transcriptionist at Shelby Mutual Insurance Company, Connecticut Printers Inc., and retired from Cigna in 1975.

Of Christian belief, she was a member of the South Congregational Church for over 50 years and sang in the church choir. She also was a member of the Granby Civic Club, the Granby Senior Citizens, and was a volunteer for the former VNA of Farmington Valley.

Mary enjoyed Bible Study, reading, gardening, piano playing and travel.

She leaves two daughters, Susan F. Gregory of Granby, Kathryn M. Freese of Waynesboro, PA; three grandsons, Timothy L. Gregory of Rexburg, ID, Peter S. Gregory of New Haven and Michael W. Gregory of Granby; three nephews and several grand-nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, 11 a.m. at the South Congregational Church, 242 Salmon Brook St., Granby with the Rev. Geordie Campbell officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill at the convenience of the family. Her family will receive friends at the Hayes- Huling & Carmon Funeral Home, 364 Salmon Brook St., Granby, Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the South Congreational Church, Memorial Fund, 242 Salmon Brook St., Granby 06035 or the VNA Valley Care, 8 Old Mill Lane, Simsbury 06070.
