MARGARET AINLEY

KEWANEE -- Margaret J. Ainley, 81, of Kewanee died at 6:41 p.m. Monday, Feb. 16, 1998, at Kewanee Hospital.

Born Nov. 9, 1916, in Galesburg to Sheldon P. and Lena Skinner Stotts, she married Robert J. Ainley on May 28, 1949, in Galesburg. He survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Chuck (Cindy) Basham of Galesburg, Mrs. Ron (Janet) Morris of Neponset and Shirley Meier of Bettendorf, Iowa; four sons, Jim Holmes of East Peoria, John Holmes of Kewanee, Russell Holmes of Richmond, Va., and Bill Holmes of Suisun City, Calif.; 24 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Jim (Shirley) Turner of Brownwood, Texas. She was preceded in death by one brother.

She was a member of First Baptist Church, its Adeste Fidelis Sunday School class and served on the Board of Deaconesses.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at her church. The Rev. Barry Lovett will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and one hour before services, both at the church. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery. Cavanagh & Schueneman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Margaret married Lowell Russell Holmes, son of Lowell M. Holmes and Vina Golden, between 1935 and 1940. (Lowell Russell Holmes was born 31 July 1917 in Illinois ⁶⁷¹⁸ and died 26 February 1988 in San Diego County, California ⁶⁷¹⁹.)
