Leon Lindsey

ONARGA -
Leon M. Lindsey, 88, Prescott, Ariz., formerly of Onarga, died July 14 at home.

He was born Aug. 5, 1895, near Onarga to Mr. and Mrs. Ira M. Lindsey. He was married March 1, 1919, in Bois Columbes, France, to the former Renee Potdevin.

Mr. Lindsey was a World War I veteran. He served in France as an ambulance driver with the American Field Service, then as a pilot in the French Aviation Service. He also served as a first lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force, receiving the Croix de Guerre and United States Citation from General John Pershing.

He also established the process for molding bent glass to be used in automobile windsheilds. The process was first used by Libby-Owens-Ford.

Surviving are his wife; an adopted son, Richard; a sister, Mrs. Anita Rice of onarga; a grandson; and a great-grandson.

Services were held in Prescott, Ariz.

• He had a residence in 1938 in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio.

• He appeared on the census in 1940 at 2924 Goddard Road in Leesdale-ForestView, Lucas County, Ohio. He was head of household and rented for $80 monthly.

• He had a residence in 1978 in Sun City, Maricopa County, Arizona.



• His funeral was held in Prescott, Yavapai County, Arizona.
