Hicks - Leadbetter

LIVERMORE FALLS, May 16 (Special) -
Miss Verna Fay Leadbetter of Livermore Falls and Robert M. Hicks of South Paris were married at 7 o'clock Tuesday morning at the home of the officiating clergyman, Rev. F. Stewart Kinley, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Livermore Falls.

The attendants were the bride's father and mother and sister, Miss Rena Leadbetter. The bride wore a white suit and hat and carried sweet peas.

Mrs. Hicks is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Shirley F. Leadbetter of Livermore Falls. She was born in Leeds and graduate from the Livermore Falls high school in 1927, and three years later from Farmington Normal School. For the past three years, she has taught English at the South Parish Junior High School.

Mr. Hinks is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Hicks. He graduated from South Parish High School and attended the University of Maine for two years. He is a tree surgeon. The young couple will live in South Paris.

Robert Hicks

SOUTH PARIS --
Robert M. Hicks, 57, died late Tuesday afternoon at the Stephens Memorial Hospital shortly after being admitted.

He was born at South Paris, Jan. 17, 1905, son of Benjamin and Flora Maxim Hicks. He had always resided on Highland Avenue. He was a graduate of South Paris High School in the class of 1925. He married Verna Leadbetter May 15, 1953 [sic]. She died July 26, 1961. He was employed by the Portland Pipeline Co., at the Waterford Station for the past 20 years and was recently awarded a 20 year service pin. He served in World War II in the Seabees in the 97th and 108th Battalion. He was a member of Mt. Mica Lodge, IOOF.

He leaves two sons, John R., Gardiner; and Stephen, South Paris, a half sister, Maleen Hicks, Bradenton, Fla. and three grandchildren.

At Norway, Nov. 6, 1962, Robert M. Hicks of South Paris. Funeral services will be held from the Raymond Funeral Home, Norway, Friday at 2 p.m. Interment Riverside Annex Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
