SOUTH BOSTON, Vir. -- Benjamin W. Clardy died Saturday at the Duke University Medical Center in Durham, N.C., after a long illness.
He was born in Oakland, California, Jan. 20, 1954, the son of Benjamin H. and Gertrude Bisbee Clardy. He received his education in Haywood, California and graduated from Livermore Falls High School in 1972. He attended the University of Maine in Farmington and graduated from William and Mary in Williamsburg, Va. in 1977. He earned his Master's degree from the University of Virginia in 1981. He married Ellen Davis of South Boston, Va. May 20, 1978 in Williamsburg, Va. He was a history and government teacher at the Halifax Sr. High School in South Boston, Va.
Surviving are his wife of South Boston, Va.; his parents of Livermore; two brothers, William H. of Fayette and Lt. George L. of Escondido, Calif.

CLARDY -- In Durham, N.C., Dec. 18, 1982, Benjamin W. Clardy, age 28, a former resident of Livermore. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. from North Livermore Baptist Church, Livermore. Interment in Waters Hill Cemetery, Livermore.
