A former Onarga woman was killed and her husband seriously injured in a two car collision Sunday night on old U.S. 45 near Kankakee. A Bonfield man was also killed in the accident.

Dead is Diane (Rice) Jackson, 42, of R.R. 4, Kankakee. Her husband, Allen M. Jackson was listed in serious condition but "doing better" according to a source from St. Mary's Hospital in Kankakee, where he was taken after the accident.

Also dead is Richard L. Wendling, 21 R.R. 1, Bonfield.

According to police reports Mrs. Jackson was a passenger in a car driven by her husband; northbound on old U.S. 45 when another car, westbound on Otto Road, apparently failed to stop at a stop sign. Jackson's car plowed into the other, forcing both autos into a field. Police said the Jackson car overturned, trapping Mrs. Jackson underneath. Both she and Wendling, were pronounced dead on arrival at St. Mary's Hospital.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 17th at 2pm with Rev. Richard Huckins officiating.
