Dwinald Mower

GREENE --
Dwinald "Bucky" S. Mower, 74, died Thursday afternoon at Greene Acres Manor following a long illness.

He was born in Greene, Feb. 12, 1916, the son of Seward and Laura Bishop Mower.

He was educated in Greene elementary schools and was a Lewiston High School graduate.

He also attended Highmoor Farm Agricultural School in Monmouth following his discharge from military service.

On July 15, 1944, in Portland, he married the former Enid M. Bryce. Mr. Mower served as a first sargeant in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater with the 446th Field Artillery Battalion. From 1946 to 1965 he was a self employed farmer. Following that, he became owner and operator of Mower's Market in Greene, retiring in 1987.

He also had been a substitute mail carrier in the town of Greene.

Mr. Mower was a selectman for one term for the town of Greene. He also had been road commissioner and a member of the school board of Greene. He was a member of the Greene Grange and the Androscoggin Grange, and for many years in the fall was known to hold the duty statewide as the cow catcher.

He also was an avid raccoon hunter.

Survivors include his wife of Greene; two sons, Kevin and Dean, both of Greene; one daughters, Mrs. Michael (Ellen) Albert of Greene; one brother, Dwight Mower of Greene; three sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Chateauvert, Miss Doris Mower and Mrs. Wallace (Dell) Reed, all of Greene and four grandchildren.

MOWER -- Died in Greene, May 3, 1990, Dwight S. Mower, age 74. Funeral services will be held Saturday 1 p.m., from Bragdon-Flanders Funeral Home, South Main Street, Monmouth, where friends may call Friday evening 7-9 p.m. If desired contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders Asso., Inc. of Southern Maine, 170 Highland Ave., Scarborough, Me. 04074. Interment Valley Cemetery, Greene.
