CHIPMAN

Maxwell George Chipman, 81, of East Hartford, husband of H. Alicia (Crawford) Chipman, died Oct. 9, 1994 at Manchester Memorial Hospital.

He was born in North New Portland, Me., and been a resident of the Hartford area since 1947. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed by Pratt & Whitney for 39 years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, serving in New Guinea and the Philipines. He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, East Hartford. He had also been an avid bowler and Red Sox fan.

Besides his wife, Mr. Chipman is survived by three children, Gary Chipman of Manchester, Roy Chipman of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Gail Lamagna of East Hartford; five grandchildren, Jacob and Sarah Chipman, Nathan, Andrew and Alida Lamagna; two brothers, Paul and Leland Chipman of Maine; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, 10:00 a.m., at St. John's Episcopal Church, 12 Rector St., East Hartford. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, East Hartford. Friends may call at the Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford, today from 7 to 9 p.m.
