H. Alicia Chipman

H. Alicia (Crawford) Chipman, of East Hartford, wife of the late Maxwell G. Chipman, died Wednesday, (January 16, 2002) at Riverside Health Care Center, East Hartford.

Alicia was born in Manchester, the daughter of the late Albert and Mildred (Paxson) Crawford and had been a resident of East Hartford for most of her life. Alicia was a communicant of St. John's Episcopal Church, East Hartford and was an active volunteer for the church. Prior to retirement Alicia was employed as a Teacher's Aid at the Hockanum School, East Hartford, and also worked for Szabo Food Service at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, East Hartford.

Alicia is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Gary and Susan Chipman of Manchester, Roy Chipman of East Hartford; a daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Gary Lamagna of East Hartford; five grandchildren, Jacob Chipman of Manchester and his fiancee Jen VanHaelen of East Hartford, Sarah Chipman of Manchester, Nathan Lamagna, Andrew Lamagna and Alida Lamagna all of East Hartford. Alicia's husband to whom she was married to on June 7,1947 died October 9,1994.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 19, 11 a.m. in St. John's Episcopal Church, 12 Rector Street, East Hartford, with the Rev. Dana L. Campbell, officiating. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Burial will follow in the Veteran Field section of Hillside Cemetery, 162 Hillside Street, East Hartford.

Following the committal service, the family has invited everyone to attend a reception in Corning Hall, adjacent to St. John's Episcopal. A calling hour will precede the service, in the church, where the family will receive friends beginning, 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Memorial Fund of St. John's Episcopal Church, 12 Rector St., East Hartford, 06108. Alicia's family has instructed Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, East Hartford to care for final preparations of arrangements.
