Dorothy W. Jones, 99 PORTLAND


Dorothy W. Jones, age 99, of Portland died on Thursday Dec. 3, 2009 at the Barron Center formerly of Park Danforth on Stephens Ave. in Portland.

Dorothy was born in Flagstaff, ME on Sept. 3, 1910 the daughter of Cliff and Lottie Carvel Wing. She was a graduate of Nasson College in Springvale. She married Roscoe S. Jones who predeceased her. Dorothy was a school teacher in Portland and South Portland. She was also a homemaker and mother of two daughters. Family was very important to her. Dorothy was a member of the Somerset Chapter of Order of the Eastern Star, a life member of Cumberland County Teachers Association, a member of Female Samaritan Association, and a big Boston Red Sox and University of Maine Hockey fan.

She is survived by two daughters Mrs. Robert (Janice) S. Crockett of Auburn, and Joan Stevenson of Yarmouth; two half brothers Duluth Wing and wife Betty of Eustis, and Lubert Wing and his wife Betty of Alabama, one half sister Margaret Rogers of Solon; two grandchildren Randy Crockett and his wife Kelly of Poland and Karen Champagne and her husband Mark of West Gardiner; four great-grandchildren Benjamin and Kaitlin Crockett as well as Rebecca and Jessica Champagne; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

She was predeceased by a sister Gwendolin Bourke, a brother Dewey P. Wing, a niece Faith Wing Ryan, and a son in-law Robert Crockett.

There are no services scheduled at this time. A private graveside service will be held at a later date in Brooklawn Memorial Park. Services are under the direction of Jones Rich Hutchins Funeral Home 199 Woodford St. Portland. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to: Opportunity Farms for Boys and Girls P. O.
