Walter Howes Hamilton passed away February 2, 2012 at the Colonial Health Care facility in Lincoln, Maine. Walter was born September 2, 1918 in Boston, Massachusetts . The son of Evelyn (Weatherbee) and Howard Hamilton. He attended Lee Academy where he played basketball, baseball and ran track/cross country. He was always speaking of his Academy days and loved to attend any sporting functions the school had.

Walter was a man who had varied interests in his lifetime. He loved to dance, which he did as a professional for many years, as well as retail sales for large service companies. He started and then sold a successful food catering business. His clients were mainly TV and movie industry personnel. Walter also was the manager and director of several high end restaurants in the California area. At the end of his working career he was the owner of an Interior Decorating firm also in California. Walter sold this company and then retired to the gentleman lifestyle.

He is survived by his daughter, Carole Hamilton Doughty and husband Jeff of Hermon, Maine and son Walter L. Hamilton and wife Betty of Washington, New Jersey ; 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; 2 great- great grandchildren. Walter was predeceased by a daughter Linda Hamilton Diaz and a grandson Kurt Rideout of Millinocket. Besides his parents, Walter was also predeceased by two sisters, Lucille and Ruth Lee.

Walter also leaves behind special cousins, Joyce (Cobb) Thompson and Bob Cobb whom he visited in Lee each summer.

A graveside service, to be announced in the spring, will be held at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Lee, Maine.

(Ruth Fling was born 14 March 1916 in Millinocket, Penobscot County, Maine,1570,7929 died 24 May 1995 in Bangor, Penobscot County, Maine 1570,7930 and was buried after 24 May 1995 in Millinocket, Penobscot County, Maine at Millinocket Cemetery 7931.)
