Norman Luc Mallett


Norman Luc Mallett, 90, of Plainville, died Dec. 16, 2007.

He was born in Salmon River, Nova Scotia, a son of the late Joseph and Mona (Dyer) Mallett. As a child, he and his family moved to Milo, Maine, where he met the love of his life, Phyllis. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving his country for five years during World War II. He served with C Company, 27th Infantry, the "Wolfhounds," and endured seven campaigns in the Pacific, including Pearl Harbor, and was awarded both a Bronze Star and Combat Infantry Badge. He retired after 27 years from General Electric. He was a Scoutmaster for Troop 32 during the 1950s. He was a supporter and life member of the National Rifle Association.

He is survived by his sons, Richard Mallett and his wife, Dale, and Barry Mallett, all of Plainville; his grandson, Kevin Kolpak; a sister-in-law, Catherine Mallar and her husband, Roger, of Farmingdale, Maine, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Phyllis E. (Bishop) Mallett, with whom he shared 52 years of marriage until her death in 1996; his brother, Aubry, and his sisters, Anita and Verna.

The funeral was held privately and at the convenience of the family.

Norman Mallett, 90; Of Plainville


Norman Luc Mallett of Plainville died Sunday at John Dempsey Hospital, Farmington. He was 90.

He was born in Salmon River, Nova Scotia, and moved to Milo, Maine. He resided in Plainville since 1953 and retired after 27 years at General Electric.

He is survived by two sons, Richard Mallett and Barry Mallett, both of Plainville. His wife, Phyllis E. Bishop Mallett, died previously.

Services will be private. Bailey Funeral Home, Plainville, is assisting the family with arrangements.
