Ledyard Youth Succumbs During Heart Surgery
LEDYARD -- R. Scott Thompson, 18, of Avery Hill Road, a student of Ledyard High School, died Wednesday during open heart surgery at Children's Hospital Boston. He had suffered a heart defect since birth.
He was born May 3, 1953, in Waltham, Mass., the son of Robert L. and Joyce Cobb Thompson of Ledyard.
Besides his parents, survivors include two brothers, John T. at home and Phillip T. Thompson of New London.
The Daniel F. O'Brien Funeral Home, Cambridge, Mass. is in charge of burial arrangements, which will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Lee, Maine.
