Mrs. BERNT NORDBY, 74
Lena Hansen Nordby, daughter of Emmanuel and Karina Hansen, was born in Iowa County, Iowa, June 30, 1880. She died at the University Hospital in Minneapolis, Minn. December 3, at the age of 74 years, five months and five days.
Mrs. Nordby came with her parents to Shelby county in 1881. She attended the public schools in Polk township and was baptized and confirmed in St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Irwin.
She was married Feb. 18, 1900 to Bernt Nordby at Irwin. The couple made their home in Kossuth and Shelby county and for the past 44 years have resided in Watertown County, Minnesota.
Survivors are her husband, five sons, Otis of Mountain Lake, Minn., Emory of Winger, Minn., Carl of Pequot Lakes, Minn., Vern of Mankato, Minn.; three daughters, Mrs. Harvey Lindsey (Cornelia) of Waseca, Minn., Mrs. Henry Von Olen (Alma) and Mrs. John Coffin (Arlene) of Flagstaff, Ariz. Also, 32 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, five sisters and two brothers. A daughter, Alma, and a son, Leo, preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held Dec. 7 at the First Lutheran Church at Butterfield, Minn. The Rev. Elmer Valen officiated at the services. Burial was in Butterfield Cemetery.
