Joseph Sughroue, 72, 4341 W. State St., died at 8:45 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, 1963, at St. Anthony Hospital after a brief illness.

Born Dec. 11, 1890 in Seward, son of Timothy and Alice Sughroue. Lived 43 years in Rockford, coming here from Seward. Married Louise Schopf in Freeport, May 4, 1921. Employed by Moorman Manufacturing Co., Quincy, before retiring. He was employed by Prairie Farmer Magazine and radio station as a field representative at the time of his death.

Member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, and at the Holy Name Society. Fourth degree member of Bishop Muldoon Council 470, Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include his widow, Louise; one son, Joseph, Jr., Rockford; one daughter, Mrs. Eileen Lindsey, Rockford; one step-son, R.G. Meads, Rockford; 10 grandchildren; two brothers, John, Precatonica, and Edward, Indianola, Neb.; and one sister, Mrs. Nellie Rigney, Kenosha, Wis.

Services at 9 a.m. Monday, Sept. 9, in Fitzgerald and Son Funeral Home, 3600 N. Rockton Ave., and at 9:30 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Knights of Columbus rosary at 7:30 p.m.

Joseph Sughroue


Joseph Sughroue, 72, 4341 W. State St., field representative for Prairie Farmer magazine and radio station enterprises, died at 8:45 p.m. Friday in St. Anthony Hospital after a brief illness.

He formerly was employed by Moorman Manufacturing Co., Quincy.

Survivors include his widow, Louise; a son, Joseph Jr., Rockford; a daughter, Mrs. Eileen Lindsey, Rockford; a step-son, R.G. Meads, Rockford; two brothers, including John, Pecatonica; and a sister, Mrs. Nellie Rigney, Kenosha, Wis.

Services will be at 9 a.m. Monday in the Fitzgerald and Son Funeral Home, 3500 Rockton Ave., and at 9:30 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
