Mrs. Bessie McKay

Mrs. Bessie Hasting McKay, member of a pioneer Spokane and St. John family, died today in a Spokane hospital after a prolonged illness. Her home was at N1113 Napa.

She first came to Spokane in 1887 from Kansas with her father, the late Allen Rodecape. The family moved to St. John in 1890 where Mr. Rodecape operated a flower and seed store until his death in 1912. Mrs. McKay returned to Spokane in 1918 and had lived here eversince. She was a member of the Christian Church of St. John and the Woman's and Elderbloom clubs in Spokane.

Survivors include a son, Oscar Hasting, Spokane, two sisters, Mrs. P.S. Pope, Spokane and Mrs. Roy C. Jacobs, Chehalis and a brother, E.D. Rodecape, San Jose, Calif.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Hazen & Jaeger's, the Rev. Marion McQuary officiating. Interment will be in St. John.

Bessie next married Roderick McKay, son of William McKay and Unknown, 29 August 1922 in Sandpoint, Bonner County, Idaho.9024 (Roderick McKay was born about 1865 in Canada and died 3 December 1945 in Spokane, Spokane County, Washington 9029.) The cause of his death was due to injuries sustained when hit by a car.
