Clifford N. Culver, Formerly of Elgin
1926-2012
Clifford Noel Culver, 85, of Ontario, died Feb. 24. There will be a memorial service later.
He was born in Pleasant Valley on May 26, 1926, to Guy N. Culver and Elmy Hesner Culver. His early schooling was in Durkee Valley.
He attended high school at Baker and graduated in Elgin in 1945.
He joined the U.S. Navy and served in Guam during WWII. He returned to the family ranch and later moved with the family to Elgin where he worked at Reeds Mill.
In 1949, he married Jeannine Powell at Baker. They lived two years in Elgin then moved to North Powder where they ranched until retiring. They had three sons, Bruce, Keith and Reid. They moved to Ontario in 2007 to be closer to family.
He was a member of the Oregon Cattleman's Association and the Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Jeannine; sons, Keith and Reid; a brother, Delmer Culver of Umatilla; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Bruce; his parents, Guy and Elmy; sisters, Elveia and Kathleen; and a brother, Marvin.
