Enid Sipp


Enid Maxine Sipp, 91, of La Grande, a former Baker County resident, died Jan. 16, 2009, at Grande Ronde Hospital in La Grande.

Her graveside service was Monday at Mount Hope Cemetery.

Mrs. Sipp was born on Jan. 8, 1918, at Hereford to Fred and Hazel Boyer Ware. She graduated from St. Francis Academy in Baker City.

She married Max Sipp on June 9, 1936, at Vancouver, Wash. He died on March 22, 2001.

She was a devoted volunteer for the Headstart Program when it was housed in the Ackerman Elementary School at La Grande and she loved reading to children.

She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary and enjoyed going out to eat and visiting old friends and old places. She liked watching the Grand Old Opry and bull riding. She loved her family dearly and loved spending time with them, family members said.

Survivors include her son, Clayton Sipp of Baker City; grandchildren, Brent and Theresa German of La Grande, Craig and Sherri Sipp of Union and Brian Sipp of Kennewick, Wash.; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Myrna German, and daughter-in-law, Karen Sipp.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, Oregon Chapter, 104 S.W. Clay St., Portland, OR 97201.

Daniels-Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center in La Grande was in charge of arrangements.
