Carol A. (Rollins) Moore, 79, a retired school secretary of the Middletown School System, died suddenly on Tuesday at Newport Hospital from heart disease. She started smiling in 1935 at age 7 weeks and never really stopped.

She was born in Camden, Maine, the daughter of Donald H. and Catherine Sleeper Rollins and was raised in Winthrop, Maine. In her Senior year of high school, she moved to Groton, Connecticut with her family where she met her husband of 58 years, William G. Moore. They lived in Mystic, Connecticut and Middletown, Rhode Island, retiring in 1996 to split their time between Cape Coral, Florida and Wayne, Maine.

Carol was the top chair of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, Eastern Star division and a member of the Society of Mayflower Descendants, the Daughters of the American Revolution, Middletown Historical Society (founding member), Red Hat Society, Friends of the Cape Coral Library Association, Calvary United Methodist church and choir, Wayne Community Church, Wayne Historical Society, Cary Library Association, and Girl Scouts of America. She was a Girl Scout leader and the co-founder of the Middletown girls softball league. She enjoyed researching geneology, playing bridge, quilting, reading, boating, and golfing,. Her grandchildren were her primary pleasure in life and she loved planning meals and summering in Maine with her family crowded all around her.

She is survived by her husband, William; two sons, Brian M. and his wife, Jamie, of Warwick, RI and Mark W. of Matunuck, RI; two daughters, Kelly Kittel and her husband, Andrew, and Erin Aguiar and her husband, Kevin, of Portsmouth, RI. Carol proudly wore her Grandma's Crew sweatshirt with the embroidered names of her twelve grandchildren, Brittany and Connor Moore, Hannah, Christiana, Micah, Isaiah, and Bella Kittel, Jordan and Julia Moore, and Ava, Gage, and Emme Aguiar. She was preceded in death by her brother, Donald S. Rollins and her grandsons, Noah and Jonah Kittel. She loved to play games, sing songs, and read books with them all.

Visiting hours and a short service will be held at Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI, on Sunday, September 14, 2014 from 1-3 pm. A funeral service will be held in Wayne, Maine on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 1 pm in Wayne Community Church. Burial to follow.
