Margaret Irene Spellecy

Margaret, beloved mother of Judy (Spellecy) Jensen, Hood River, Ore., Ron Spellecy, Seattle, Wash., and Debbie Spellecy, West Linn, Ore., passed peacefully of natural causes at her home in Hood River Friday, Dec. 15, 2006. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Denny Spellecy, who died in 1998.

Margaret was born May 10, 1921, in Spokane, Wash., and spent most of her life in the area as a stay-at-home mother to her three children. She was active in recent years in Hood River with the Soroptimist Club and as a volunteer at Providence Hospital working gladly wherever she was needed.

Margaret was perhaps best known for her cooking and arts/crafts work. She recently published her own cookbook, which she gave to her many friends at Christmas time last year.

Margaret loved her grandchildren: Sean, Ryan, Steven, Mitchell and Evan. She was particularly fond of her great-grandchildren, Mason and Max, and was so excited to learn a great-granddaughter was due in March 2007. She was already planning on how to spoil her newest!

A service and celebration of her life will be held at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 6, in Hood River, Ore. A reception will follow at Pheasant Valley winery. Interment will be in Spokane, Wash., at Greenwood Memorial Terrace next to her beloved husband.

Remembrances can be sent to Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital Foundation at P.O. Box 149, Hood River, OR 97031 or Hospice of the Gorge, P.O. Box 36, Hood River, OR 97031.
