Barry Grant Gunderson
On March 31st 2013, our beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather; Barry Grant Gunderson passed away at age 70 in Cedar City, Utah.
Barry was born on September 18th 1942, to Grant and Leola Gunderson in Salt Lake City, Utah. When he was young the family moved to Southern California. Here he met his wonderful wife Gail Lynn Monroe. They were married on November 30, 1963 and were later sealed in the Los Angeles Temple. They raised three children in Chino, CA. Later they moved to Cedar City, UT.
Barry graduated from Baldwin Park High School. After leaving school, Barry began working with his father in the painting business, where they did a lot of work for the LDS church and later he worked for the LDS church.
Barry was a member of the LDS church and was a high priest at the time of his death. Barry held many positions in the Church. He was in the Stake Young Men's Presidency for 19 years, and also worked with the scouts. Barry was a scout master, district scout commissioner, A.D. commissioner and unit commissioner. He loved the scouts program and retired after 50 years in scouting, during which he earned the highest badge, The Silver Beaver.
Barry is survived by his Wife; Gail, Son; Bradley (Collette) Gunderson, Daughter; Vicky (Russel) Smith, Son; Douglas, Granddaughter; Larissa (Garren) Allred, Granddaughter; Jessica (Colby) Meier, Grandson; Jason Duchesne, Grandson; Blake Smith, Granddaughter; Briana Gunderson, Great Grandchildren; Lucas and Macie Meier, Brother in Law; Ronald Monroe and many beloved Nieces and Nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Grant and Leola Gunderson, Sister; Dawn and best friend Brent Olsen.
Viewing will be Saturday April 6, 2013 at Swindlehurst Funeral home (2071 N Main, Cedar City) from 11:30 to 12:30 with a graveside service at 1:00 PM in the Cedar City Cemetery.
