AUSTIN B. HAM

LINCOLN - Austin B. Ham, 83, died Oct. 25, 1983, at a Lincoln hospital. He was born in Springfield, Aug. 12, 1900, the son of William and Jennie (McDale) Ham.

He owned and operated Ham's Market in Springfield. In the 1950s and retired from Great Northern Paper Co. in East Millinocket in 1967. For the past several years he had been employed by M.S.A.D. #67 in Lincoln.

He is survived by four sons, Harold, Norman, Lawrence and Keith, all of Springfield; eight daughters, Mrs. Jack (Dorothy) Comer of Long Island City, N.Y., Mrs. Cloud (Ruth) Gibbs of Tewksbury, Mass., Mrs. Blanche White, Mrs. Catherine Granville, Mrs. Ronald (Marjorie) Budge, Mrs. Chester (Joyce) Tazier, Mrs. Hazen (Jean) Sawtelle and Mrs. Ronald (Linda) Doane, all of Springfield; 34 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at the Clay, Stevens & Clay Funeral Home, Lincoln, with the Rev. Duane Waite officiating. Burial will be in Springfield Village Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday. Those who wish may leave donations to the Ronald McDonald House. Donations may be left at the funeral home.

Austin married Gertrude E. Orr 11 February 1922 in Lee, Penobscot County, Maine.⁹⁷⁶⁹ (Gertrude E.
