Wallace Loren Tibbetts

BELLE, MO. -
Warren Loren Tibbetts, 61, died Nov. 9, at a St. Louis hospital, after a long illness.

He was born May 4, 1928, in Penobscot County, Maine, the son of Harold and Hazel Goodspeed Tibbetts. On April 21, 1951, Wally married Wilma Irene Newbound. Wally served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War in the Construction Batallion. Locally, Wally earned the reputation as a master carpenter and craftsman.

Surviving are his wife, Wilma of Belle, Mo.; his mother, Hazel of Hermon, Maine; three sons, Tom and his wife, Mila, of Independence, Mo., Kendall and his wife, Mickey, of Belle, Mo. and Wendall Tibbetts of Belle, Mo.; two daughters, Toni Shanks and her husband, Jerry, and Kim Smith and her husband, Jim, all of Belle, Mo.; five brothers, Earl, Everett, Ralph, Roscoe and Paul Tibbetts; five sisters, Arline Kelley, Esther Bartlett, Pearl Motley, Gladys McPartland, and Flora Lord; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Wally was predeceased by his father, Harold Tibbetts; and a sister, Jeanette Tibbetts.

Services were held Sunday, Nov. 12, 1989, at Sassmann's Chapel, Belle, Mo. with the Rev. Lyle Coleman officiating. Interment will be in Countryside Memorial Gardens.

Wallace and Wilma appear to have married twice in Belle, Missouri. The second marriage record is dated March 3, 1956.
