RUTH THOMPSON PENDLETON

HERMON and CARIBOU -
Ruth Thompson Pendleton, died March 29, 2000. She was born Aug. 2, 1910, in Caribou, the daughter of James and Bessie (Day) Miller.

She was a graduate of Caribou High School and Aroostook State Norman School. She taught school in Caribou for eight years and for nine years in Hermon. She was a member of Eastern Star Rebekah Lodge No. 36 of Hermon and a former member of the Rebekah Lodge in Caribou. Ruth belonged to the Hermon Garden Club, Hermon Senior Citizens and Hermon Historical Society. She was a member of the Hermon Baptist Church and former member of the United Baptist Church of Caribou. She had been pianist and organist at these two churches. Ruth had played the piano since she was 13 years old and continued to play for organizations to which she belonged. She was an excellent cook and will be remembered for her wonderful Thanksgiving dinners.

Ruth is survived by two sons and their wives, Frederick and Gail Thompson, of Caribou, Philip and Deborah Thompson of Herman; a daughter, Mary Thompson Hugoniot and husband, Gene, of Seminole, Fla.; grandchildren, Susan Thompson Cushman of Caribou, John Thompson of Naples, Fla., Peter Dolson of Fairfield, Conn., Michael Dolson of Tampa, Fla., Laurie Thompson Bridge of Hermon, Dale Thompson of Milford; great-grandchildren, Daniel, Rebekah, Susannah and Nathan Cushman, Eric Thompson, Dylan and Austin Thompson; four sister-in-law, Madelyn Miller, Avis Thompson, Lena Durepo and Mary Jane Chick, all of Caribou; a former son-in-law, Paul Dolson of Fairfield, Conn.; and a former daughter-in-law, Sally Thompson of Hermon; step-daughters and their husbands, Sylvia and Howard Leibensperger of Stephentown, N.Y., Rosanne and Kenneth Gray of Hermon; step-granddaughters, Laura Leibensperger, Roslyn Pitt, Kathryn Dillon, Cynthia Little of Carmel and Nancy Delong of Bangor; nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Woodie Thompson, Jan. 4, 1953; and her second husband, Walter Pendleton, July 9, 1979; her brothers, Philip of Virginia, Maynard and James of Caribou.

Friends may call 4-7 p.m. Friday at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at the Hermon Baptist Church, with the Rev. Garnett Chute, pastor, officiating. Spring interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Caribou.
