Ruel Ivan Crocker
MONMOUTH -- Ruel Ivan Crocker, 82, longtime resident of Monmouth, died suddenly in Spring Hill, Fla., on June 7, 2004.
He was born April 26, 1922, son of Clinton Ivan Crocker and Rebecca Belle MacArthur.
He leaves his beloved wife of 59 years, Annis Webster Crocker. He was the loving father of Thomas R. Crocker and Anthony and Mel Crocker of Monmouth, Terrance Crocker of Nobleboro and Timothy Crocker of Greenbush. He also is survived by his brother, Forrest Crocker of Monmouth, Raymond Crocker of New Hampshire, Lloyd Crocker of Pennsylvania and Glennis Crocker of Connecticut. Ruel was grandfather to 12 and great-grandfather of 14 children.
Ruel served as an Army medic in World War II and was a longtime National Guard medic. He trained postwar as a nurse and was employed at the veterans hospital in Togus. He was a member of the Winthrop American Legion, the Winthrop Art Association and the Spring Hill Art Association.
Funeral services and burial will take place at 10 a.m. Friday at the Veterans Cemetery in Bushnell, Fla.
Ruel's paintings are displayed at his son's home, A Rise And Shine Bed and Breakfast in Monmouth, where a memorial garden will be planted in his memory.
