John J. Weiss
John J. Weiss, 86, a bank examiner for 33 years, died March 12 in the Hospice of the North Shore, Skokie. Mr. Weiss was born May 10, 1915 in Chicago.
He attended the University of Chicago, graduating with a degree in sociology. Mr. Weiss worked for the U.S. Treasury and served as an interpreter in the U.S. Army during World War II. After he retired he tutored young students in literacy and math. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church of Wilmette.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth (nee Larrabee) Weiss of Wilmette; a son, John Jay (Katie) Weiss of Nashville, Tenn.; two daughters, Laura (Richard) Kracum of Winnetka, and Susan Weiss of Evanston; four grandchildren, John and James Kracum, and Catherine and Joseph Weiss; a sister, Elanor Nielsen, and a brother, Arthur R. (Mary Jane nee Voss) Weiss.
Funeral services were held March 16 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church of Wilmette with interment private.
