Rev. L.R. Howard Rites Tomorrow
THOMPSON, Ct., July 15 -- Funeral services for the Rev. Lawrence R. Howard, for 12 years pastor of the North Church in Cambridge, Mass., will be held here at 11 o'clock Friday morning, with cremation at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge.
Mr. Howard, retired pastor of the Associated Church here, died yesterday at the age of 67. Services will be held at this church before the body is sent to Cambridge.
Born in Glencore, Ill., Mr. Howard attended Williams College and was graduated from the Union Theological Seminary in 1901. He was ordained that year in Providence, R.I.
Subsequently, he served pastorates at Plainfield, N.J., Oswego, N.Y., the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, Neb., and Whitewater, Wis., in addition to Cambridge and West Medway, Mass. He spent a year overseas in the last year with the YMCA and was chaplain at Middlebury College, Middlebury, Vt., in 1927.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Margaret Kellogg Howard; two sons, Capt. Richard Howard, Ft. Sill, Okla., and Donal Howard, Thompson; three brothers, Dr. Burt Howard, Sacramento, Calif.; Arthur D., Los Angeles, and D.C. Howard, Hollywood; two sisters, Nina Howard and Mrs. Lester Parker of Rochester, N.Y., and a granddaughter, Margaret Ann Howard of Bethleham, Pa.
