FRANK SAWIN JR., 68, RETIRED POSTAL WORKER
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today in the First Congregational Church of Waverly in Belmont for Frank E. Sawin Jr. of Waltham and East Harwich, a retired postal worker.
Mr. Sawin died Monday in Brigham and Women's Hospital, Boston, after a short illness. He was 68.
After retiring from the US Postal Service, he was employed by Brandeis University until the time of his death.
A veteran of World War II, he flew 35 missions in Europe for the Army Air Corps and received the Distinguished Flying Cross with four oak-leaf clusters.
Mr. Sawin was a deacon emeritus of the First Congregational Church of Waverly and a member of the Sons of the American Revolution and the Waltham Republican City Committee.
He leaves his wife, Ruth I. (Lindblad); five sons, Frank E. 3d of Lynnfield, Gary B. of Newton, Keith A. of Waltham, Craig B. of Mansfield and Scott L. Sawin of Waltham; two sisters, Geneva Scofield of Eastham and Eleanor Hedding of Randolph, Vt.; and a grandchild.
