Susan C. Sawin

WALTHAM - Susan C. (Haughney) Sawin, 53, of Waltham, died Tuesday, May 9, 2006, at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston.

She was the wife of Keith A. Sawin for 20 years.

Born in Troy, N.Y., the daughter of Mary (Heslin) Haughney of Waltham and the late James Haughney, Mrs. Sawin had lived in Waltham for the past 25 years.

She was a secretary for the Waltham school system in the special education department for the past five years and had worked previously in human resources at the Copley Plaza Hotel in Boston. She had helped open the Hyatt Hotel in Cambridge, and had worked at the Ritz Carlton in Boston.

She was a graduate of Ayer High School, Class of 1971, and University of Massachusetts at Amherst, Class of 1975.

Besides her husband, she leaves her sons, Brett A. and Ryan J. Sawin, both of Waltham; her brothers, Ken Haughney and his wife, Kathy, of Kansas and Gary Haughney and his wife, Donna, of New Jersey; her mother-in-law, Ruth Sawin of Sudbury; her brothers-in-law, Frank E. Sawin III and his wife, Cynthia, of Lynnfield, Gary B. Sawin and his wife, Lisa, of Dover, Craig B. Sawin and his wife, Pamela, of Foxborough and Scott L. Sawin and his wife, Marcy, of Sudbury; and many nieces and nephews.

She was the daughter-inlaw of the late Frank E. Sawin Jr.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 13, at 10 a.m., at the Joyce Funeral Home (Rte. 20), Waltham.

Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.

Visiting hours are Friday, May 12, from 4 to 8 p.m, at the funeral home.
