Felix DeFronzo, Sr.
Felix DeFronzo, Sr., 95, of Niantic, husband of Rose (Petrizzi) DeFronzo died Wednesday (March 6, 1996) at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, New London.
Born in Grotto Minardo, Prov. of Avellino, Italy, he was the son of the late Rocco and Marie Grace (Balasano) DeFronzo, and had lived in the Hartford area most of his life moving to Niantic 30 years ago. Felix was retired from the City of Hartford, Board of Education and was predeceased by his first wife, Mary (Bonito) DeFronzo.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Marie Grace Freese and her husband, George of Granby; three sons, Felix DeFronzo Jr. and his wife, Sophie of Collinsville, Rocco J. DeFronzo and his wife, Barbara of Columbia, MD and Frank E. DeFronzo and his wife, Barbara of Waterford; a sister, Theresa Day of Hartford; two brothers, Thomas DeFronzo of Windosr and Michael DeFronzo of Wethersfield; 12 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be Saturday March 9, 9 a.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield, followed by a Mass of Christian, 10 a.m., St. Patrick & St. Anthony Church, Hartford. Burial in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Calling hours are Friday March 8, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 670 Prospect Ave., Hartford, 06105.
