Ralph A. Lunden, 74, of Federal Road, Chaplin, Conn., retired production control supervisor for Gilbert and Barker Mfg. Co., West Springfield, formerly of East Longmeadow, died Tuesday in a Mansfield, Conn. nursing home.
Born in Springfield, May 24, 1898, he lived in East Longmeadow for 30 years before moving to Connecticut seven years ago. He worked at Gilbert and Barker for over 30 years. He had been active in East Longmeadow town affairs, serving on numerous boards and committees.
A Marine veteran of World War I, he was a past commander of American Legion Gunther Rowley Post No. 293 of East Longmeadow. During World War II, he was chairman of the Civil Defense board of East Longmeadow. He attended the First Baptist Church, East Longmeadow.
He leaves hiw wife, Mrs. Bertha (Allen), a son, Arthur R. of Montville, Conn.; three daughters, Mrs. Marjorie Poole of Springfield, Mrs. Joyce Crosier of Suffield, Conn. and Mrs. Irma Clark of Mansfield, Conn.; three brothers, Harry, of Palmer, Walter of Monson, and Albert of Green Lake, N.Y.; and two sisters, Mrs. Lawrence Meacham of Monson and Mrs. William Barhydt of Albany, N.Y.
The funeral will be this morning at Dickinson-Streeter Funeral home with the Rev. Rueben W. Martin officiating.
