LaVeta Stauffer
GILMAN - LaVeta A. Stauffer, 80, of Gilman died at 4:50 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26, 2007, at Gilman Nursing Pavilion, Gilman.
Her memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007, at the Onarga United Methodist Church, Onarga, with the Rev. Jan Miller officiating. Inurnment will be in the Onarga Cemetery, Onarga.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007, at Onarga United Methodist Church, Onarga.
Memorials may be made to the Histiocytosis Society or Make-A-Wish Foundation.
LaVeta was born on April 25, 1927, in Danvers to Milton and Augusta (Pagel) Oesch. She graduated from University High School in Normal.
She married Mervin Stauffer on Oct. 28, 1955, at First Christian Church in Bloomington. He died on Nov. 6, 1974.
Survivors include two daughters, Marva Stauffer of Onarga and LaVon (Tom) Legan of Hoffman Estates; two sons, Trent Stauffer of Gilman and Kent (Tami) Stauffer of Ashkum; seven grandchildren, Scott, Aric, Krista Legan, Clayton, Kaylee, Kelsey Stauffer and Erica Arseneau; one great-grandchild; three sisters, Viola Kath of Carlock, Loretta Oesch and Yvonne (Herb) McClure, all Bloomington; one brother, Lawrence (Dorothy) Oesch of Bloomington; and four sister-in-laws, Frances Oesch of Hopedale, Naomi Oesch of Bloomington, Isabelle Oesch of Hannibal, Mo., and Pat Oesch of Peoria.
Pre-decedents: parents; husband; three sisters, Odessa Walsh, Eloise Oesch and Winifred Dyer; four brothers, Howard, Orville, Wilfred and Sam Oesch.
LaVeta was member of the Danvers Lutheran Church.
She was a beautician, teacher's assistant, cook and certified nursing assistant at Greenbrier Health Care in Piper City, and she helped her husband operate the Hermer Burial Vault Company in Onarga.
She was an avid gardener and nature lover. LaVeta enjoyed watching sports, quilting and collecting frogs.
